Tepextate is such a flavorful, soulful plant, that it’s hard to find a tepextate based destilado that isn’t at least pretty good. The flip side of that coin is that it can be just as tough to find one that really stands out as being that much more special-er than all the other special tepextates.

Ageo’s 2020 tepextate hits all the bright, high notes with a dusting of spice and cacao. It’s a great example of a master coaxing the very best from his materia prima to reveal its hidden magic. In short, we think this is an outstanding example of the varietal, and one of the best spirits we’ve tasted in a long while.
